MALATYA. This year's crop failure in Malatya means that significantly fewer dried apricots can be exported. Growers are struggling, while retail prices are skyrocketing.

16% in just one month

Temperatures continue to fall in the Turkish apricot-growing province of Malatya. According to the Turkish Meteorological Institute, night-time temperatures are expected to be between 7 and 10°C this week, while daytime temperatures will reach up to 22°C. The market is very quiet overall, as there is no trading activity due to the frost-related crop failure. Not much is likely to happen here until the next season.

Price volatility for dried apricots is causing additional problems for growers. Prices have been rising steadily sin
