Dried apricots: global crop down by almost 50%

MALATYA/REUS. According to current estimates by the INC, global dried apricot production is down by almost 50% on last year due to crop failures in Turkey. Turkish exports are also significantly slower, with prices remaining stable.

Prices remain unchanged

In Malatya, the centre of Turkish apricot production, the market situation remains calm in December and there is little activity on the market this season. As New Year shipments have already been completed, market players expect a particularly quiet month. According to the Turkish weather service, low temperatures are set to continue, with night-time temperatures expected to be 1-4°C and daytime temperatures 6-9°C.
