Dried apricots: global production down by almost 50%

MALATYA/PALMA. The INC's current estimates show significantly lower production for the 2025/26 season, mainly due to the frost-related crop failure in Turkey. Growers are currently endeavouring to limit the damage here.

Hope for 2026

The effects of the frost disaster in April continue to dominate the Turkish dried apricot market. Around 10 million apricot trees were damaged by the night frosts and farmers are now doing everything they can to remedy the situation. "We are carrying out spraying and fertilisation work in our apricot orchards, which were severely damaged by the agricultural frost on 12 April. Between 70 and 80%of the trees have recovered. We hope that the remaining parts will also recover in time and that we will be able to get a crop again next year," reports a local
