Dried apricots: heat warning for Malatya

MALATYA. In Turkey's most important apricot-growing region, temperatures are set to rise to 43°C in the coming days and often not fall below 25°C at night. Businesses remain closed and trade has largely come to a standstill.

Weekly exports continue to decline

The Turkish weather service has forecast a sharp rise in temperatures for this week in Malatya, the most important apricot-growing region. While night-time temperatures will be around 19-25°C, daytime temperatures are expected to climb to 43°C.

Weekly exports are once again showing a slight decline. Last week, Turkey shipped 519 mt of dried apricots and apricot products overseas, compared with 792 mt in the same week last year. Since the start of the season, total exports have thus reached 72,434 mt, still well abov
