MALATYA. Cold weather and snowfall in Malatya are delaying deliveries to the markets and driving up prices. These are also being supported by high export demand.

Snow brings both advantages and disadvantages

Growers in Turkey's most important apricot-growing region, Malatya, continue to be very satisfied with the current growing conditions. Temperatures are cool, with 5°C during the day and up to -6°C at night – ideal for the apricot trees. In addition, heavy snowfall has been reported in some areas, which could delay the flowering period and thus reduce the risk of frost.
