Dried apricots: Uzbekistan expands acreage

MALATYA/TASHKENT. Not only Turkey recorded a total loss of its apricot crop this year, but European growing countries also experienced massive difficulties due to late frosts. Support is now being provided from the EU Commission. Fruit cultivation is to be further expanded in Uzbekistan.

Price indications remain stable

Temperatures in the Turkish apricot-growing province of Malatya remain relatively cool, with 7°C at night and up to 21°C during the day. The market is very quiet and there is little trading; buyers are only asking for small quantities. Commodity prices for dried apricots, no 2, are TRY 370/kg, while no 4 is trading at TRY 320/kg and industrial goods are around TRY 100/kg.
