AYDIN. Although Turkish dried fig traders state they are paying more attention to fruit contaminated with mould this year, there have been significantly more rejections at EU borders. Unfavourable climatic conditions are to blame.

Misunderstandings?

Market players in the Turkish dried fig market are very surprised. As previously reported, significantly more fig shipments have been rejected at EU borders since the beginning of this season than last year, after inspections revealed elevated levels of aflatoxin and ochratoxin. The confusion on the part of Turkish exporters is now great, as these same batches were also tested by the Turkish authorities prior to export.
