Keeping an eye on the weather

In the Turkish province of Aydin, fig farmers were able to start harvesting table figs two weeks earlier than usual due to the high temperatures and even the first dried figs from the new crop have already been traded on the Turkish market – at prices of TRY 200/kg. However, there are concerns that the heat has had a negative impact on yields and that the infestation with the Mediterranean fruit fly may also have affected production.
