Dried figs: new EU limits

AYDIN. New maximum residue levels will be introduced for the mycotoxin ochratoxin A in all dried fruit imports for the EU, which also applies to dried figs. Growers are still holding surprisingly large supplies from this year's crop in Turkey.

Exporters need pay close attention

Trading should remain subdued until January. Although exports have climbed to 26,532 mt this seaosn so far, they still range a bit lower than last year. At 1,859 mt weekly exports remained relatively firm as of 17 December. Since buyers are expected to start stocking up for Ramadan as soon as the new year starts, demand should rise. 

Exporters need to pay close attention to the new maximum residue levels for ochratoxin A, which will become effective as of 01 January for foodstuff imports to the EU. As stated in Commiss
