Dried figs: export forecast falls short of last year's result

AYDIN. After yields were lower than initially expected due to the drought in the summer months, market experts are now confident that a comparatively high proportion of dried fig production can be exported.

Higher share, lower potential

The Turkish dried fig market is in a quandary and prices are stagnating. While exporters are hardly concluding any new contracts due to the high price level, growers are waiting to be able to push through an increase to compensate for the higher production costs. Larger dried figs in particular are still being held back by producers. For the time being, export prices for dried figs, Lerida, no 3 are maintaining their level of USD 9,876/mt FOB Izmir.
