AYDIN. Last week, the Turkish dried fig sector kicked off the 2025/26 export season. The low level of trading activity in the market frustrates growers. There is great concern that last year's situation will repeat itself.

Export season started

Since the middle of last week, dried fig exports from Turkey have been back in full swing. After the harvest was completed early, processors and exporters spent a long time preparing for this moment. A total of 3,553 mt of dried figs and dried fig products were shipped overseas last week. In the same week last year, the figure was 1,910 mt, but it should be noted that the 2024 export season started at the end of September.

Overall, exports in the first few days of the new 2025/26 season are in line with those at the start of the 2024/20
