Dried figs: holiday demand boosts the market

AYDIN/TEHRAN. The upcoming holidays are boosting the dried fig trade in Turkey and also in Iran. Exports are doing better than average. In Turkey, most of the dried figs are now in traders' stocks.

Lira prevents rising export prices

In the Turkish dried fig market, farmgate prices continue to rise. Farmers have meanwhile divested themselves of a large part of their production, which is why the goods available are largely in the possession of various traders. With weekly exports of 2,365 mt, shipments of Turkish dried figs and dried fig products are doing much better than this time last year; in the same week last year, only 1,940 mt had been shipped overseas.
