Dried figs: moderate freight rates

AYDIN. Suppliers in Turkey not only report fixed prices but also that freight rates have declined. Trading is, however, largely subdued.

Fixed prices

Demand for dried figs is normal in Turkey for this time of the year and exports are performing as usual. Raw figs are trading at the same level as last week. The prices for low-quality dried figs range at TRY 40-45/kg and for high quality at TRY 55-65/kg. Growers still hold around 30-35% of this year's 75,000 mt production in mixed quality. Export prices have remained firm, although the Turkish lira has lost a bit in value. No 2 Lerida dried figs are, for instance, still trading at USD 5,810/mt FOB Izmir.
