AYDIN/PALMA. Global dried fig production is expected to increase by around 15% in the coming season. A higher result is also currently expected in Turkey, even if this is significantly below the average production of previous years.

Turkey to increase production by 16.7%

Turkey is by far the world's largest producer of dried figs. Last year, however, dried fig production in Turkey fell to its lowest level in a long time at 60,000 mt. And already in 2023, production only reached 67,000 mt due to unfavourable weather conditions, while the average result in the previous years (2016-2022) was just under 80,000 mt.

The current forecast for the coming 2025/2026 season is 70,000 mt, as announced during the panel discussion at the congress of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council. Figs
