AYDIN. A few weeks before the start of the new season, Turkish dried figs are once again showing weaknesses. Though no large stocks remain, traders want to take as little of it as possible into the new season.

Undesirable stocks
Traders who still have remaining stocks of figs not yet contracted for, have reduced their export prices. Larger dried fruits and industrial figs have become cheaper, but the offers for sizes 4 or 5 remain stable.

The production of dried figs is estimated at more than 70,000 mt and, assuming the weather is good, Turkish suppliers will be able to start exporting the first dried figs as early as the middle or end of September.
