Dried figs: spring weather needs to be better

AYDIN. Adverse weather conditions spell bad news for dried figs in Aydin this year. A supply squeeze is very well possible if conditions fail to improve in spring.

Dry spell is a problem

Weather conditions are still rather adverse in Aydin. A lack of rain along with too high temperatures have prevented the trees from receiving sufficient rest. The prevailing dry conditions may also impact yields. Prices have already surged to astronomical highs on the back of a disappointing crop and fear is that the situation may turn even worse, that is if the weather fails to improve in spring.
