AYDIN. Despite the fact that Turkey celebrated a holiday on 23 April called "Sovereignty and Children’s Day", which meant that the trading week was shorter, fig exports continued to increase.

Exporters are satisfied

Despite the public holiday and the four-day curfew last week, fig exports continued to rise compared to last year. Market players report that demand remains stable and they do not expect any major problems for the time being. Since the beginning of the season, a total of 54,256 metric tonnes of dried figs and fig products have been exported from Turkey, which is an increase of 18% compared to 46,150 metric tonnes in the same period last year.

Price adjustments and price differences

Due to the fluctuation of the Turkish lira and a certain shortage of farmgate goods, exporters made some price corrections. Depending on how many commodities each exporter has in stock, there are price differences of up to EUR 500/mt.
