Dried figs: supplies run low

AYDIN. A supply squeeze has prompted traders in Turkey to only offer a limited variety of dried figs. Rain and snow have been forecast over the next few days. The demand situation has taken market players by surprise.

Recovery in demand takes market by surprise

Low demand prompted traders in Turkey to go down in price in mid-December, although supplies of dried figs in EU export quality were limited. Demand has, however, revived again over the last few days with buyers asking for prices and hopes are high. Significant carry-over stocks are not expected this season. Prices will, however, certainly surge over the next few weeks and months as raw material supplies in export quality are limited.
