Heatwave poses risks

The Turkish province of Aydin accounts for 80% of the country's fig crop. As in Manisa and Malatya, temperatures here are expected to climb to 42-44 °C this week. Until now, the crop had developed well, but now market players are concerned that the fig trees could suffer from the latest heatwave. The low rainfall has been an issue for months.
