Forecasted rains for the end of the week will be beneficial for the crop. The initially expected storms became less probable.

Different regions have different stories to tell, but some farmers from the Northwest and central regions of the country suffered total losses in their corn fields during the recent hailstorms. Their only recourse now seems insurance!

Anyhow, for the past few days, dry weather has embraced the country from South to North and from East to West. The forecasted showers for the end of the week will favor corn fields. Some farmers from the Northeast regions, who did not suffer from the recent hailstorms, welcome the forecasted rains since their fields need the necessary water reserves (See the attached clip).

Corn: mainly domestic trade

SOFIA. In recent months, the two main market characteristics that define domestic and foreign markets have been a somewhat stable local trade on a weekly basis and a sluggish, at best, foreign trade. Prices are weaker on the background of a lack of a strong demand.

So far in the season, domestically corn has been mainly used for feed (647,000 mt); the rest (361,000 mt) goes for industrial and food usage.
