Flaxseed: Canada's exports to the EU slumped by nearly 90%

OTTAWA. Despite a lower production outlook, Canadian flaxseed prices are expected to decline further in the coming season. The reason is the low export demand from China and the EU.

No supply deficit despite low crop

No major revisions were made in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's latest report on the 2023/2024 Canadian flaxseed season, only the expected average price was lowered once again. Market players are looking at the market with mixed feelings. A smaller cultivation area, which according to analysts could even be reduced by up to 23% compared to the previous year, and the accompanying decline in crops give hope on the one hand that prices will at least remain stable.
