Flaxseed: Canada under pressure

OTTAWA/NUR-SULTAN. Eastern European flaxseed is significantly cheaper again, which puts even more pressure on Canadian exporters. The forecasts for the coming 2023/2024 season do not make it any easier for market players either.

High supply weighs on prices

To boost demand, Kazakh flaxseed traders have been forced to adjust their prices in recent weeks. Since the beginning of the new calendar year, offers for brown flaxseed, 99.9% purity have declined by about EUR 0.10/kg, which is why the export prices of Polish cleaners are currently around EUR 780/mt DDP Germany. Golden flaxseed, 99.9% purity is trading for about EUR 930/kg DDP Germany.

These price adjustments are making it increasingly difficult for Canadian flaxseed traders to regain a foothold in the export market. Buyers
