Flaxseed: global deficit and harvest delays

ASTANA/OTTAWA. Rain is delaying the flaxseed crop in Kazakhstan and some fields still need to be harvested in Canada. Expectation is that global production will show a massive deficit.

Hoping for better export chances

While harvesting is progressing in Canada Rayglen Commodities expects the large carry-in supplies from 2022/2023 to weigh on market prices. Yet, as most fields still need to be harvested it is impossible to determine yields at present. Traders hope that demand for Canadian flaxseed will rise in China and the USA in the new season. Buying interest is, however, rather limited in Europe.
