Flaxseed: Kazakhstan's growing regions are too dry

OTTAWA/NUR-SULTAN. In mid-May, farmers started sowing in the Kazakh growing regions, but in some areas conditions are reported to be relatively dry. According to Canada's exporters, they have so far hardly benefited from supply restrictions between Russia and the EU.

Canada can hardly close the gap

As the experts at Rayglen Commodities confirm in their latest report, export demand for Canadian flaxseed declined significantly this season. Despite lower supply due to production declines in Kazakhstan and Russia, the high price level discouraged European buyers from increasing their imports from Canada. Even the current situation, which makes smooth trade with Russia impossible, could do little to change this.
