Flaxseed: snowfall slows down harvest

ASTANA/MOSCOW. Snowfall has caused interruptions to harvesting work in Kazakhstan's flaxseed-growing regions. Meanwhile, the Russian government has officially imposed export duties of 10% on flaxseed shipments.

Russia makes export tax official

With its decision of 3 October 2025, the Russian government has imposed an export duty on flaxseed exports outside the Eurasian Trade Union with immediate effect. "According to the signed resolution, the export duty rate will be 10% of the customs value of the raw material. The decision will remain in effect until August 31, 2026. It is aimed at stimulating the utilization of flax processing capacities and supporting an optimal balance between the domestic market and raw material exports", the statement says.
