Flaxseed: uncertainty about crops in Eastern Europe

OTTAWA/NUR-SULTAN. The availability of the flaxseed crops in Russia and Kazakhstan is still a big question mark for market players. In Canada, too, work in the fields is slowly coming to a close.

Harvest in Manitoba almost finished

In Manitoba, the flaxseed harvest has now been completed to a good 80% and prices remain at a high level. However, quotations for raw material deliveries from Manitoba fell by CAD 46/mt to CAD 1,227/mt compared to last week - this time last year, however, prices were at CAD 524/mt. Market players such as Rayglen Commodities also recommended that contracts for deliveries from the new crop should include a force majeure clause, as well as an FOB farm price to better illustrate the price increase to buyers.
