DALIAN. Unfavourable weather conditions during the 2025 harvest have led to tighter supplies this season. Prices are not expected to ease for the time being.

Supplies have been tight for months

Supplies of goji berries on the Chinese market have been tight since February this year. Stocks are moderate and prices are correspondingly high. As the experts at ED Nuts noted in their latest report, this is primarily due to the unfavourable weather conditions during the 2025 harvest period. In some regions, the fruit could only be harvested a few weeks later than usual; at the same time, this hampered availability for the drying process and the export trade.

Traditionally, the goji berry harvest in Ningxia takes place in several rounds from June to October; whilst the first fruits are generally of better quality, the berries harvested later are crucial for meeting market demand. In 2025, due to the unfavourable weather conditions, it was not possible to harvest as much as usual during these later picking periods.

Prices remain high

ED Nuts therefore expects prices to remain at a relatively high level until the end of the 2026 harvest. Conventional goji berries, 380 pcs./100 g, are currently being offered at prices of USD 8,600/mt CFR Hamburg, while organic goji berries of the same size are priced at USD 9,590/mt CFR Hamburg. At the start of the 2025/2026 season, however, these varieties were still quoted at USD 7,400/mt and USD 8,550/mt respectively. On the European spot market, Chinese goji berries (350 pcs./100 g) are currently trading at prices of EUR 7.95/kg FCA Germany.

MANILA. The coconut market remains under pressure: whilst export quotations for desiccated coconuts are stable, prices for coconut oil and Philippine copra continue to fall. At the same time, the increasing likelihood of a strong El Niño is raising the risk to coconut supplies in 2027.
