Grains and oilseeds: disappointing sales

BRUSSELS. France will sell less wheat. Russia’s attacks are a challenge for Ukraine’s corn exporters. US soybean suppliers are having a hard time competing with Brazil. Demand for rapeseed oil will receive a boost in Germany.

France to export less wheat

According to FAO projections global grain production will exceed 3 billion mt for the first time on record in 2025/2026. Driven by the bumper crop of 25.5 million mt in Argentina and large crops in Australia (35.6-36.1 million mt), the USA and Canada (40 million mt) as well as the EU (134.2 million mt) wheat production will climb to 827.4 million mt.

Expectation is that France will only export 7.7 million mt of wheat in 2025/2026, around 2.5 million mt to Morocco and 2.4 million to sub-Saharan Africa. Ukraine’s wheat crop sh
