BRUSSELS. EU wheat supplies should receive a boost in 2025/2026. Higher EU tariffs for corn from Ukraine will prevail in the EU very soon. Reduced tariffs in China may impact soy. Global rapeseed production is set to recover.

High wheat supplies in Europe

Algeria has revitalised the European wheat market as the country’s national cereals board, the OAIC, has bought 660,000 mt of milling wheat at a price of USD 244,50/mt C&F. Suppliers are Russia, Romania and Ukraine. Diplomatic tensions prompted Algeria to desist from purchasing in France despite highly attractive prices. The strong euro and cheaper offers in the USA will weigh on Western European exports to North America and the Middle East.
