BRUSSELS. Competition is currently fierce for wheat. In the US, the biofuel tax credit is boosting corn. Soybeans have witnessed a rather unsustainable price jump. Canda may have to step up canola exports to Europe.

Fierce competition for wheat

Wheat is recovering slightly after the euro fell and exports from Russia and Ukraine are still delayed due to ice and snow. Ships in Russian ports are currently experiencing loading delays of 7-15 days, prompting buyers to switch to other alternatives in Argentina, Romania and Bulgaria and France. Russia exported 2.7 million mt in January, almost as much as last year.
