Grains and oilseeds: new tariffs shift dynamics

BRUSSELS. France is hoping for an export boost for wheat. The impact of the US-EU trade deal and of Trump’s recent tariffs is not quite clear for corn. Fear is that China will turn to Argentina for soy. Canada loses canola market shares in China.

France hopes to sell more wheat

Wheat is trading lower in Paris and Chicago. Traders have reported good yields, medium protein contents and hectolitre weights. With the crop size larger than last year and quality being better France hopes for an uptick in exports in the new season. Higher Black Sea prices have also prompted Tunesia to buy a shipload over 30,000 mt of wheat in France this week. Egypt is, in addition, waiting for deliveries from France and other EU member states and 63,000 mt will be loaded in France in the next few days.
