Hazelnuts: Buyers queue up for TMO stocks

ORDU. Buyers are basically queuing up to purchase hazelnuts from the TMO, which has already sold nearly half of its stocks. Despite this upsurge in demand, the market is responding in a rather paradoxical manner.

Decline in export prices

The TMO has already sold ca. 35,000 mt, which amounts to nearly half of its total stocks. Although this upsurge in demand is a clear sign that the exporters urgently require hazelnut kernels and a complete sell out is underway, the suppliers are eager to sell. Turkey has so far shipped nearly 210,000 mt overseas this season. In addition, the cheaper kernels from the 2017 crop are pressurising the prices and quality.
