ORDU. Exports from Turkey have so far climbed by about 25% this season. Prices remain attractive.

 

Production estimates need to be revised

Market players agree that the prospects for this year’s cop are very good. Official estimates range at 650,000 mt for in shells. Some traders, however, reckon that 620,000-630,000 mt are more realistic. The share of hazelnut kernels, 13-15 mm is to rather large this year, which is why the difference in price to smaller sizes is to be smaller.

Next week, the TMO is to announce the base price for 2018/19. Market players are anticipating farmgate prices of 12 TRY/kg. The prices for the 2017/18 crop ha
