ORDU. Exports may have reached a record in the first three months of the season, but suppliers are far from happy with the international demand situation for hazelnuts. News on next year’s crop is emerging. Prices models are complex.

Record exports in November

Curious but true, Turkey’s exports hit a record 35,650 mt worth USD 292 million in November with high prices apparently failing to put off buyers. Total exports already exceeded 100,000 mt at the end of the month, despite average export prices ranging higher than USD 8.08/kg. In Trabzon city exports have, most notably, risen by 40% to 24,000 mt, which is nearly twice as much as in the same period in 2023. Trabzon produces Levant quality hazelnuts, which are lower priced than Giresun quality nuts.
