Hazelnuts: TMO launches sales

ORDU. On Thursday, the TMO launched its long-awaited sales for hazelnuts. Pricing has turned extremely difficult for exporters. Observations are emerging from the orchards concerning the 2025 crop.

TMO prices prompt concerns

Ally eyes have been on the TMO for weeks. Issue is that the state-run organisation still holds large volumes. Quality may also be a problem as it is unclear what volumes are up to standard. By finally launching sales on 29 January first conclusions on this may drawn in the next few weeks. Prices are, however, the main concern at present.

The quotations issued by the TMO range above market prices. Yet, as the TMO intends to sell 22,399 mt of shelled hazelnuts at present these volumes may also have a balancing effect on the market as
