Damage evaluations are underway

As expected by market players, the week began with a sharp rise in commodity prices for hazelnut kernels. Compared to last week, they have risen by 20-25% and are now at TRY 170-180/kg. The reason for this is the cold temperatures in the Turkish growing regions, which have led to frost damage. One exporter stated that the Trabzon and Giresun regions were only slightly affected, but that there was more severe damage in Ordu, as this region has high-altitude plantations.
