ORDU. In two weeks, the referendum on the new presidential system in Turkey will have already taken place. It will then be interesting to see how the exchange rate will respond and what effects the results will have on the market.

 Prices are unwavering

Because of the weak trading activity last week, the prices for hazelnuts dropped slightly, however, the decline was largely compensated by a stronger Turkish lira, so that the prices remained at the same level as the previous week.

What can still go wrong?

The weather forecast for the next two weeks does not call for any frost, and with a little luck, the hazelnut crop should already be out of the woods. Damage caused by night frost in the last few weeks can probably only be reliably assessed in May. In this regard, the market is largely relaxed and the current prospects give reason to hope for a good hazelnut production in 2017. Moreover, market players expect abundant surpluses once more this year. The supply for the 2017/18 season should therefore be secured.
