Iran: price movements in August

TEHRAN. In Iran, the price trends for nuts and dried fruits differ. While almonds and pistachios are showing mixed tendencies, the prices for barberries, dates and dried figs and raisins are showing clear directions. Saffron has also witnessed a sharp turnaround since last year.

Almonds

As the Tehran Times highlights Iran lost market shares for almonds last year. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) the country exported almonds worth USD 34 million in 2024. This is 19% down on 2023. Iran, in fact, only ranked in tenth place as almond exporter with the USA, Australia and Spain and Turkey accounting for 91% of the export value last year.
