NEW DELHI/BEIJING. The low prices in the Asian growing countries are putting pressure on the international peanut market; this is particularly noticeable in the South American origins. Weather conditions have now improved here.

Low prices in Asian origins

The Chinese peanut crop is expected to reach a similar volume to last year. Weak domestic demand is keeping prices low, making the Chinese product competitive on the international market. European buyers in particular are showing increased interest. One problem, however, is the still very high freight costs, which make exports considerably more difficult.
