NEW DELHI/BUENOS AIRES. With winter approaching, many European buyers are currently stocking up on peanuts to feed migratory birds. In India, large quantities of the new crop are reaching the markets.

High arrivals on the markets

Prices on the Indian peanut market continue to move within a narrow range. At the moment, they are declining slightly, which is mainly due to the fact that large quantities of the new crop, namely around 17,000-20,000 bags, are arriving daily in the major trading centres such as Gondal and Rajkot in the state of Gujarat. Rajasthan is also recording good crop results this year, as is Karnataka, while the market in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is somewhat slower.
