WASHINGTON, D.C./NEW DELHI. US peanut shipments have risen in the first ten months of the year. Farmers in India are, however, complaining about outstanding payments.

 

Things are moving too slowly

The wedding season has brought trade to a standstill in parts of India and has temporarily prompted stable prices. Export prices have risen at the beginning of the week.

Farmers in India are complaining about the sluggish purchase activities conducted by the government organisations. They fear that they will have to sell their peanuts on the free market well below the guaranteed minimum price.
