BUENOS AIRES. The current weather situation in Argentina is in complete contrast to the situation in 2017. Last year, the peanut harvest was delayed by several weeks due to persistent incidents of rainfall, while this year, the agricultural industry has been plagued by drought.

 

Not all areas of harvest are affected to this extent, but in the long term, the lack of rainfall can indeed reduce crop yields. Market participants are hoping that the long-awaited rainfall will arrive this month, which will enable the harvest to produce a good result. At this time, most traders are not yet willing to quote prices for raw produce for the 2018 crop.
