Peanuts: Uttar Pradesh wins the race

NEW DELHI. In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, peanut production is expected to increase by up to 50% this year, while other growing states are expected to see significant declines. Some growers are also struggling with cash problems.

Slight price declines

After peanut prices on the Indian market held steady last week, there have now been slight declines of USD 15/mt. Market players cite China's drop in demand for Indian peanut oil as the main reason for this. It is suspected that there were some quality problems here, but this will only be confirmed for sure or proven wrong in the coming days. Peanut oil supplies, which should have fetched USD 2,000-2,030/mt, may now fall to USD 1,880-1,900/mt.
