Pistachios: US producers are optimistic

TEHRAN/SACRAMENTO. Iranian pistachio exports have declined significantly year-on-year, not least due to lower production. In the USA, meanwhile, growers and producers have high hopes.

Significantly lower exports

Iranian exports of shelled and unshelled pistachios fell significantly year-on-year in January and February. According to Iranian customs statistics, a total of 9,814 mt worth just under USD 75 million were shipped in the said 2023 period, compared to 15,860 mt worth USD 114.6 million in the same period last year. This corresponds to a decline of 38% in volume and just under 35% in value.
