Pistachios: new year with new stimulators

ISTANBUL. According to traders the Dubai chocolate hype no longer is the main stimulator for pistachios in Turkey. Other factors have rather entered the scene in January. News concerning the next crop is also emerging form the orchards.

Price issues

Dubai chocolate may have stimulated the market for pistachios in Turkey in recent months, yet local traders insist that the hype is now over. Several other factors have come into play instead. With the new year energy and labour costs have increased in Turkey along with taxes and other fees. The relatively stable exchange rate and the weakness of the euro against the US dollar have also impacted pricing.
