CANBERRA/CAPE TOWN. While Australia is expecting a good crop, the estimates for South Africa had to be lowered. The export situation is slowly returning to normal.

Drought reduces crop volume

The Australian macadamia harvest 2020 is almost complete and market players report favourable harvest conditions and good quality nuts. It is expected that the crop estimates for other origins will also be largely met, with the exception of South Africa, where Macadamias South Africa (SAMAC) has already had to revise its initial estimate downward by around 20%, bringing the current forecast to just over 49,500 mt.
