AYDIN. Turkey's dried fig market has got off to a good start this season so far. The devaluation of the lira only has a limited impact on export prices.

Export season has kicked off

The export season for dried figs officially kicked off in the middle of last week with overseas shipments ranging at 5,679 mt so far. Volumes have, thereby, risen by more than a third over the same period last year and suppliers are operating at full capacity. Demand remains so strong that even the weak lira has failed to weigh on prices, quite contrary to developments with other dried fruits. Prices remain firm and the price gap large.
