SACRAMENTO/BUCHAREST. Low prices for US walnuts have already given the export market a boost in September. Market players in Europe will, however, need to wait for another few weeks for the new crop to arrive.

Spot market prices remain firm

Although it is difficult to determine the exact impact of the coronavirus on the walnut market, it has certainly disrupted trading in recent months and should not be underestimated. Stocks are running low in Europe. Buyers are resorting to the 2019 crop until the new crop arrives. Market players state that US suppliers are working at full capacity and do not rule out the possibility that the rise in demand for the new crop will drive up prices.
