Sultanas: tough restrictions in Turkey

MANISA. With daily Covid-19 infections ranging at 30,000 Turkey has been forced to react swiftly. After a last-minute cabinet meeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan imposed a general curfew, which starts on Tuesday. Raisin and sultana exporters are, however, extremely busy in meeting their orders in the run up to Christmas.

Curfew applies in Turkey

A general curfew will apply between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on working days as of Tuesday. Starting at 5 p.m. every Friday and lasting until 5 a.m. on Mondays the weekend curfew is even stricter. Childcare facilities and educational institutions will also close. Erdoğan has further urged people to be more careful and patient. He also announced that 50 million vaccine doses will be made available to the population. starting in December, and promised that people will be able to have a vaccine without been charged.
