Macadamias: Australia gains market share in Asia

CANBERRA. Despite a slight crop decline, Australia was able to secure important shares of the Asian market. Demand from China even rose by a whopping 30%.

Good export demand

Australia is the second most important country after South Africa when it comes to the cultivation of macadamia nuts. In November, the INC had increased its previous estimates for the 2020 crop, which now stands at 42,000 mt of macadamias in shell with a moisture content of 3.5%. This represents a decrease of 3.4% compared to the 2019 crop.
